Veneto Vacation Packages & Tours

Located in the northeast of Italy bordering Austria, the Veneto region is known for its diverse landscapes that include everything from a portion of the Dolomites and Lake Garda to idyllic beaches on the coast, although it’s most famous for its capital city, Venice.

It’s a place where history meets beauty, rich in art and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, three of which are historic cities, including Vicenza and its Palladian villas, Venice and its dreamy gondola-filled lagoon, and the city of Verona, known for its 1st-century AD Roman amphitheatre and Juliet’s House with its fabled balcony connected to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Just a few of the other notable attractions include Abano Terme’s spa facilities, the Gardaland theme park, Dolomite National Park, and World War I memorial sites. Winter visitors will want to head to Cortina d’Ampezzo for skiing, with miles of trails of hiking available during the warmer months revealing some of the region’s most epic views.

When to visit Veneto

When it comes to the best time to visit Veneto, with such diverse landscapes, it depends on the particular locations you plan to go to and the type of activities you hope to enjoy. In the flat land areas, including cities like Venice and Verona that are popular for sightseeing, you can enjoy mild weather with thinner crowds in April or October. Or, prepare for chilly, wet weather and enjoy them in an even more tranquil setting in November or the latter half of January.

Skiing in the Dolomites is best enjoyed in January and February, while the hiking season runs from late May through mid-September. The beaches are at their best for swimming around the same time, with late May/early June and late September ideal if you don’t want to endure the crowds. Lake Garda is enjoyable year-round, with swimming possible in the summer. Autumn is
particularly stunning with the area’s brilliant fall foliage.
