Begin your 9-day, 8-night trip by flying into Milan’s airport where our driver will welcome you upon arrival, providing private transfer to your hotel in this magnificent hub of fashion, design, and architecture. While it’s quite modern, there’s plenty of history to explore as well. You’ll get an in-depth look tomorrow. After checking into your hotel, enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. After a long flight, you might just want to relax, or perhaps enjoy a stroll to soak up the atmosphere followed by a delicious dinner at one of the rooftop restaurants with a view.
Milan City Tour with Last Supper
A private tour of the city with a local guide will bring you to many of Milan’s highlights, including Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper in the refectory of the Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. If you’re inspired by The Da Vinci Code novel or film, you might even search for hidden messages in the painting. Visit Castello Sforzesco to marvel at da Vinci’s Sala dell Assi, and Michelangelo’s Rondanini Pieta, his final masterpiece. Conclude at the horse racetrack where to see the famous Horse of Leonardo. After your tour, you might explore more of Milan on your own or enjoy lunch.
Trade the city for the countryside by traveling via private transfer to your hotel in the small village of Benevello in the Piemonte region, known for its landscapes similar to Tuscany but without the crowds. The rest of the day is all yours and it’s the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the facilities. Set in a 19th-century farmhouse surrounded by vineyards, it includes a wellness area with a Finnish sauna, steam room, and a whirlpool, along with a pool where you can unwind with a glass of wine while enjoying the serene views. This evening, enjoy dinner at the on-site Michelin-starred restaurant.
The Monferrato Immaterial UNESCO Heritage
A day trip from Benevello with your own private sommelier driver/guide will bring you to the lively town of Canelli in Monferrato wine country. The highlight here is the network of tunnels and galleries dug out between the 16th and 19th centuries, protected by UNESCO. Some of the best sparkling wines are produced in the underground cathedrals using a unique technique that you’ll learn about on a tour. Of course, it includes a tasting of sparkling wines and more. Afterward, head to a rural estate for a light lunch followed by a visit to a wine bar in Barbaresco and another wine tasting.
Cooking Class at Farmhouse & Winery in La Morra
One of the highlights of your tour through Northern Italy is on the agenda today. Your driver will bring you to a farmhouse/winery in La Morra, a medieval hilltop village nestled among the vineyards with magnificent, centuries-old buildings. A cooking class that provides the ideal souvenir, and new skills that you can share with your friends and family back home, starts by donning an apron and heading into the kitchen with the chef. You’ll get hands-on, helping to make two courses and a dessert that you’ll sit down to enjoy once it’s done. The chef will also provide tips allowing you to recreate the meal at home.
It’s time to head to one of Italy’s most famous lakes for the second portion of your Northern Italy trip: Lake Como. Your private driver will provide a transfer to your hotel. Located in the town of Como, you’ll be perfectly situated for enjoying the delights of the region, from the sparkling sapphire waters to its rich history. After checking in, you can explore on your own. There are a wide range of shops to browse and a number of interesting museums to explore. We recommend a visit to the archaeological museum which houses artifacts dating to ancient Greek times.
Bellagio & Lakeside Villages Tour
This morning your private driver/ guide will take you on a tour that begins with an incredibly scenic drive on the winding road between Como and Bellagio that follows the lake’s inner shore. Sometimes referred to as the “Amalfi Coast Road of Lake Como,” the views throughout the roughly one-hour ride are stunning. Once in Bellagio, you’ll take a guided walking tour of the ancient historic center followed by a visit to Villa Melzi. Built-in the early 1800s, its lush gardens are open to the public. Stroll the meandering paths, enjoying the romantic atmosphere while viewing Egyptian sculptures, Roman statues, and the Japanese pond.
With eight days in Northern Italy behind you, it’s time to depart.
