DAY 1 Rome: Welcome to Rome
Your classic Italy honeymoon begins in the Eternal City with your arrival at Rome’s international airport. You’ll be welcomed by our driver who will provide private transfer to your hotel that’s just a 5-minute walk from Villa Borghese Park. After settling in you might enjoy a stroll as it’s the perfect way to beat jet lag while soaking up the atmosphere of the city. The park offers lush gardens that are especially lovely when the flowers are in bloom. It’s also home to Galleria Borghese, a 17th -century villa that hosts one of the world’s most magnificent collections of Baroque art. Museum Carlo Bilotti, hosted in the orangeries of the Borghese Family hosts some beautiful contemporary pieces which make it worth a visit too.
DAY 2 Rome: Private Half-Day Highlights of Ancient Rome + Private Sunset E-Tuk Tuk Tour
Enjoy an in-depth look at Rome, starting with a private half-day tour of the ancient highlights. It includes the city’s most iconic symbol, the Roman Colosseum, and the Roman Forum where you’ll be immersed in the history of the Roman Empire. Here it’s easy to imagine the tens of thousands of spectators that once filled the seats to watch brutal flights between man and beast, dramatic battle reenactments, gladiator competitions, and more. Afterward, head to what was once the center of civilization, the Roman Forum, a social, political, and religious hub. Another tour awaits at dusk – an electric tuk-tuk tour, enjoyed with a bottle of champagne or prosecco while hitting nearly all the highlights concluding with a sunset from a magnificent vantage point.
DAY 3 Rome: Private Half-Day Wonders of Vatican City
Discover Vatican City, an independent city-state in Rome with its own coins, stamps, flag, and milita. You’ll explore the vast complex with your own private driver-guide, including many of the Vatican Museums from the Gallery of Tapestries to the Gallery of Geographical Maps as well as Michelangelo’s famous work on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. It’s a feast of world-renowned paintings, classical antiquities, tapestries, sculptures, and frescoes. Of course, you’ll get to marvel at the grandeur of stunning St. Peter’s Basilica, built over 120 years and completed in 1626. Inside are Michelangelo’s Pieta and many other impressive works. DAY 4 Sorrento: Transfer from Rome to Sorrento
Departing Rome this morning, your driver will provide private transfer from your hotel to the Rome Termini Train Station. With train tickets in hand, you’ll catch the highspeed train to Naples, a 90-minute ride. From there, you’ll be met by another driver for private transfer to your hotel in Sorrento. This town of lemons and plunging cliffs sits at the western gateway to the renowned Amalfi Coast and it’s a top destination for romance-seekers including honeymooners. After settling into your hotel, set within an elegant art nouveau building steps from Piazza Tasso, the heart of Sorrento, you might want to head to one of the sea-view eateries where you can enjoy a local dish and perhaps sample the city’s famous limoncello.
DAY 5 Sorrento: Private Amalfi Coast Highlights
Enjoy a full-day tour of the enchanting Amalfi Coast accompanied by your private driver/guide. Positano is the first town you’ll visit and it’s one of the most exquisite, looking like it did a century ago thanks to the strict building codes. It’s a stunning array of colors from pastel-hued buildings to lush gardens and lemon trees set on cliffs that dip to the turquoise sea. You’ll have time to explore on your own and perhaps enjoy a coffee or lunch before continuing to Amalfi. Marvel at iconic St. Andrew Cathedral and the whitewashed homes that cascade down terraced hills linked by stairs and alleyways. Your last stop is Ravello, where you’ll enjoy one of Italy’s most stunning panoramas over the Cilento and Amalfi coasts.
DAY 6 Sorrento: Small-Group Sorrento Cooking Class in a Local Home
A must-experience for anyone who loves Italian food and home cooking, your driver will meet you at your hotel to bring you to a gorgeous Italian villa where a small group masterclass will be hosted. Here you’ll get one of the best souvenirs of your trip, new skills that will allow you to prepare a menu of traditional dishes from start to finish. All of your ingredients will be fresh and organic, with items that will allow you to make eggplant parmesan, handmade pasta, and mouthwatering tiramisu for dessert, with the help of your instructor. Once your dishes are ready, you’ll get to enjoy the results of your effort on a terrace that overlooks the bay, complemented with local wines, limoncello, and Neapolitan-style coffee.
DAY 7 Florence: Transfer from Sorrento to Florence + Private Rooftop Aperitivo Experience
It’s time to continue your journey by traveling to Florence. You’ll return to the train station in Naples by private transfer, for a three-hour ride on the highspeed train. Upon arrival to Florence, you’ll be met by a driver for transfer to your hotel which sits just opposite of the Arno River. Take time to settle in before getting ready for a magical evening. You’ll head to a historic Florentine palace for a fabulous aperitivo on a private rooftop terrace, enjoying delectable Italian bites accompanied by wine served by a sommelier, ensuring the perfect pairing. It will be perfectly timed to allow you to watch the sun go down behind the medieval Old Town skyline. The option for a full, four-course Florentine dinner is available.
DAY 8 Florence: Day of Leisure
You’ll have a full day of leisure in Florence today, and as tomorrow is reserved for delving into the villages and vineyards of Val d’Orcia, you might want to wander the cobbled streets and explore some of the city’s top attractions. The Duomo is not-to-be-missed as the city’s iconic symbol, built over 140 years and completed in 1436. If you climb to the top, your reward will be an awe-inspiring view over Florence as well as a closer look at the cathedral’s interior and frescoes. You might marvel at the works in the Uffizi Gallery which includes pieces by Michelangelo, Giotto, and da Vinci, as well as check out the Galleria dell’Accademia, home to one of Michelangelo’s most famous works, David.
DAY 9 Florence: Full-Day Private Vineyards and Villages of Val d’Orcia
As promised, today’s agenda will bring you to the Tuscan countryside, with medieval homes and vineyard- and olive grove-covered hills in the Val d’Orcia region south of Florence. Your private tour focuses on the wineries and village life with the first stop will allow you to try one of the most prestigious and famous red wines, Brunello di Montalcino. You’ll take a vineyard tour before enjoying a tasting and lunch. Afterward continue to the UNESCO-listed village of Pienza, known for its rich history with Renaissance buildings. You’ll get to explore its centuries-old
streets with unique boutiques and charming craft shops and enjoy a sample of the region’s famous Pecorino cheese, returning to Florence in the late afternoon with time to dine on your own.
DAY 10 Venice: Transfer from Florence to Venice
With your classic honeymoon nearing its end, it’s time to head to your final destination: Venice. Returning to the train station in Florence you’ll catch the highspeed train for the 2.5-hour journey to the Floating City. A driver will be there to greet you and bring you to your hotel on the banks of the Grand Canal. The afternoon is at your leisure, but you might want to visit St. Mark’s Square, one of the most famous attractions in the city and a popular gathering place since the 9th century. The clock tower, St. Mark’s Basilica, and Doge’s Palace are all here, along with many cafes with outdoor seating for people watching while sipping a glass of the local wine.
DAY 11 Venice: Private Venetian Cicheti Tasting Tour
Discover Venice through some of its best flavors on a private tasting tour. You’ll delve into the time-honored Venetian culinary traditions by visiting three historic small taverns known as bacari a word derived from Bacchus, the Greek god of wine. Soak up the authentic atmosphere and enjoy delicious bites, that include a tasting of cicheti, similar to tapas, small plates that will be washed down with outstanding wines. As you explore the bacaris and enjoy the local specialties, you’ll learn more about the city. Your guide will lead you through the pretty districts of Santa Croce, San Polo, and Cannaregio, revealing some of the more hidden gems in the lesser-known areas of Venice while regaling you with interesting insights into the city’s history and culture.
DAY 12 Venice: Departure
Having explored some of the most romantic places in Italy, your classic honeymoon will come to an end this morning. Of course, it’s always possible to add another destination to your itinerary, all you have to do is contact our travel experts to make it happen. Otherwise, your private driver will meet you at your Venice hotel to provide transfer to the airport where you’ll catch your flight home. While it’s never easy to say goodbye to this beautiful country, we’re sure you’ll have many memories to take with you, and there’s always next time.
